Ingredients are important to us here at LABB. As someone who has been in the industry for nearly a decade, i’ve never had so many people ask me about the ingredients in certain products. It became clear to me that it was a priority to create a serum that was natural and clean. So, why does LABB care about EWG VERIFIED™ and what is it?

When we were deciding on what products to bring in to LABB, we made sure every single ingredient was within the “green range” on the EWG VERIFIED™ website. With that being said, let’s chat through the ingredients that are in the LABB Lash + Brow Growth Serum! Ingredients are scored 0-10, 0 being the cleanest (aka water).

Purified Water:
Put simply, purified water is water that's been mechanically filtered or processed to remove chemicals and impurities, according to Carpenter. The purification process removes contaminants including bacteria, chemicals, and toxins from tap water or groundwater.

Hyaluronic Acid: {EWG SCORE- 1}
Our skin is composed of two main layers – epidermis, which is the outer layer provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone. The dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands. This tissue contains a gel-like fluid that is partially comprised of hyaluronic acid. It moisturizes the skin from within and prevents hair from falling out prematurely from the hair follicles. If you are dry, using a serum that contains Hyaluronic Acid is encouraged as it works like a fertilizer. Not only does it increase hair growth, but it also increases the diameter of each individual hair, giving the brows and/or lashes more volume.

Collagen: {EWG SCORE- 1}
Collagen is a protein and the glue that holds our bodies together, giving our skin strength and elasticity and replacing dead skin cells as we age. But what may not be so commonly known is all of the ways collagen can affect your hair. In short, the protein can be used to replenish hair loss and make for stronger, more luscious brows and lashes. Collagen is an amino acid - hair follicle cells use amino acids to produce keratin protein which promote hair growth, strength and elasticity.

Cucurbita Pepo Pumpkin Seed Extract: {EWG SCORE- 1}
Pumpkins, like all plants that have a close relationship to the soil, are an excellent source of mineral nutrients. Pumpkin seeds, extracts, and oil are all good sources of the minerals phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, and copper. They are also excellent sources of the minerals zinc and iron. Pumpkin seeds have a broad diversity of antioxidants.
So how does it help with lash + brow growth?
As a proven anti-fungal and antibacterial agent, pumpkin seed oil can be helpful for maintaining healthy hair follicles. It’s useful in treating clogged hair follicles and dead skin buildup.

Sphingolipid {EWG SCORE- 1-3 depending on usage… our serum only has 3% of this ingredient}
A ceramide is a sphingolipid resulting from the combination of a fatty acid with sphingosine via an amicable affair. These ceramides are essential components of the outermost layer of the epidermis, the stratum corneum, whose integrity helps maintain skin hydration by acting as a barrier. Basically, it keeps the area moisturized which is essential for proper hair growth.

Myristoyl Pentapeptide 17 { EWG SCORE- 1}
This ingredient helps your lashes and brows look fuller and thicker. This peptide is quickly becoming the darling of the anti-aging skincare world. Unlike other peptides, it plays a dual role. They are working not just for the skin but also for the eyelashes and eyebrows. Both of which can become thin to almost non-existent as we age. It provides the nutrients that the hairs need to stay healthy and grow longer.

Arginine {EWG SCORE- 1}
Arginine is known for its ability to restore the appearance of hair in lashes and brows, preventing them from looking sparse, short and thin.

Methylamido Dihydro Noralfaprostal {This ingredient is not on EWG website but it is the only prostaglandin approved by the FDA}
This is a prostaglandin, which is needed to enhance the length of our natural lashes. Anything without a prostaglandin, no matter how impressive or scientific sounding the ingredients, is unlikely to make lashes grow.

Vitamin b7
Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, stimulates keratin production in hair and can increase the rate of follicle growth.
